Personal Emergency Response System
Emergency Help at the Push of a Button
Personal Emergency Response System
This is the familiar pendant which, when activated, starts a hands-free conversation with our Emergency Operators who can send the appropriate authorities and notify caregivers in an emergency. Unlike other providers of this service, HTCare is a local, established business which will deliver your unit, install it, and train you on its operation. If there is ever a problem with its operation, we will replace it with a new one at no charge.
How does a PERS work?
It is quite simple, involving only three components:
1) a small pendant transmitter (a lightweight “help” button worn on a band around the neck, on a wrist band, carried on a belt or in a pocket)
2) a small console box connecting to the user’s telephone
3) our emergency response center that monitors the help requests
When emergency help is needed, such as medical, fire, or police, the PERS user can press the transmitter’s “help” button, sending a radio signal to the console (connected to the user’s telephone). This causes the console to automatically dial one or more pre-selected emergency telephone numbers. Our system has the capability of dialing out, even if the phone is in-use or off the hook. This is a crucially important feature. When an emergency response center is contacted, the caller is identified, allowing the center to determine the nature of the emergency, review the caller’s medical history, and notify the appropriate medical professionals and/or family/caregiver. If the center cannot contact the caller or determine whether an actual emergency exists, they will notify emergency providers to go to the caller’s home, monitoring the situation until the problem is resolved. Most “help” buttons are waterproof and can be worn in the shower or pool.
